Rules and Restrictions
Gateway is intended to be a free-form and relaxed game experience, but there are some things we need to insist on.
No one is permitted at any of our events without prior approval of the Staff.
All Players must be at least 18 years of age. Exceptions are rare but possible.
Alcohol is only permitted on site during the event with explicit permission. Most sessions are "dry". When drinking is allowed it is always toward the end of the event and only by those of age. Do not "pre game". Intoxication in the game space is not allowed.
No rough (or sudden) physical contact is permitted. Light contact is permitted (such as setting a hand on an arm or holding hands) but only if all participants consent prior to the act. Refer to the OCC rules for the best way to do this.
Real weapons may not be carried without peace bonding (tying the weapon to its scabbard in such a way that it would be difficult to draw quickly). Live steel should NEVER be drawn. Foam latex props are preferred.
Safety of the other Players and Staff must always be the number one concern when contemplating some act or action. If you are considering doing something that poses a risk of accident or injury (even if it is solely you at risk) DON’T DO IT.
All confrontations or arguments must be confined to character-to-character interaction. If you are unable to play your character without real world tensions or frustrations affecting your play please leave the game site until the situation is resolved or you cool down.
No pets are permitted. Exceptions can be made for Service Animals buy will seldom be made for Emotional Support Animals.
Cheating is not permitted. Of any kind. Seriously.
The Gateway Chronicles is a game run by, and played by, adults. Though not specifically targeted as such, the content of the game can sometimes be viewed as “mature” in terms of language and subject matter.
Rules lawyering and power gaming is discouraged.
All participants must be treated with the utmost respect and consideration. Out of character disrespect of any kind will not be tolerated.
The Staff reserves the right to suspend anyone from play without notice and ask them to leave the game site. They will do this if they believe someone is violating the rules as set forth in the preceding list or the spirit of these rules. The health and happiness of our community is very important to us.
